Shadow puppets below! Whilst the original is a little tame, Lenka's track Trouble Is A Friend has a couple of pleasing reincarnations. The Eli Escobar Mix is like a slow warm flamenco dance and Paul Mac's bassy punt is like that same flamenco dance suddenly kicking off and everyone getting their groo-ooove on. Both nice and worth a gander.

Frog. From marmota.

Aaah Monday evening, the trees are abundant with olives and the honey trickles down the aqueduct toward Rome. Here, Autokratz play happily with synths and beeping machines. Deep under the ground lies the realm of Hades, namely the Underworld. And here's the distinction. I find Autokratz powerful and uplifting. They make me dance, just like olives and honey. I listen to Underworld, and I'm a little depressed. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for depression right now.

Still this track has some merit in its remixed form - nice and choppy, if a bit repetitive. Thanks Autokratz for brightening my day.

So these chaps are good and the notion that Somebody, Somewhere loves me certainly warms my bitter heart (listen). London band Cazals are signed to Kitsune and although genre's have increasingly blurry boundaries these days I can safely say they are indie through and through. This is one of my favourite tracks of the last month so wash your hands and be polite.

It says beep

This is a post about beeping. But please don't be put off, the tunes are excellent.

I had a bit of a revelation yesterday when I realised that I know two good songs contain the lyric "beep". I pondered for a while and then thought yes, this is probably worth a post on Cassette Culture.

We could get philospohical - what is it to beep? if there was a beep in a forest but no-one heard it, would it make a sound? how deep is your beep?

But there really isn't any need - here's the music:

Thanks Jamie Mellor for this beetle

Alright then so things were getting a bit tricky with Cassette Culture, time constraints, legal issues, an impending redesign that frankly looks shit... But while all that's being sorted out let's have some tunes yeah?

Let's bathe in the glory of this Lifelike remix of Cazals' track Somebody Somewhere.

Hello there,

Many apologies for the lack of updates recently.I'm working on a few new ideas for Cassette Culture, hopefully bringing the blog back to its true philosophy - which I feel it may have strayed from a little. I'll get things sorted as soon as I can.

Hope to see you soon,

Tom
