Desert. Sun. Hat.

Musical Mood: Night-time driving
Sounds Like: Standing on the hills, shouting into the valley.

Bat For Lashes brought out a new album called Two Suns on 6th April accompanied by single Daniel. Edwin Van Cleef has done a fine job of clubbing up the original but its faithful enough to still be a nice entry point for those who are unfamiliar with BFL...Maaah maybe I'll include an old BFL track too just because her voice is undeniably one of the most beautiful I have heard.

Bat For Lashes - Daniel (Edwin Van Cleef remix).

so i just stumbled across this blog today, and it's the best thing i've seen and heard in so long. It's funny my friend just got back from Australia and he introduced us to the presets. I've been listening to ladyhawke religiously for the past 2 months and cut copy has always been a favorite band of mine. So when i went through all your aussy electro posts, that blew my mind to find out there all inter-twinned with eachother. The first time i heard walking on a dream by empire, my ear for music changed completely. i compare every new song with the way i felt when i heard that for the first time. Any way i just felt like sharing my love of the music you have on this blog with you aha..this has become my new regular site to find good music.
    cheers buddy

-Securing enough bandwidth for the downloads and previews is particularly expensive. If you can help out at all please use the Paypal button below - any amount is hugely appreciated.

@ Devon - thanks for your support! I'm really glad your enjoying CC, its people like you who make me want to keep spending my time on doing this. I hope you find plenty more that you like here in the future

@ Anonymous - I don't quite know what your contesting in that statement because you've just written "BULLSHIT". I assume your suggesting that I won't use the money for bandwidth? At Cassette Culture I actually regularly run out of bandwidth for the preview tracks and I cannot afford to buy more so that aspect of the site stops working until it is refreshed the next month. Recently, the downloads from Cassette Culture were so great that I maxed out a server and I've been switching servers ever since trying to keep costs down. This is both time consuming and irritatingly technical. So far, only one person has donated money to Cassette Culture via that link and his/her £3.33 went straight to buying more bandwidth for the site. It is quite clearly a voluntary donation button, there is no pressure on anyone to donate. I do welcome people's views on it though. My chief concern is to avoid putting adverts on the site, but if costs go up I'll either have to do that or shut the blog down.

just find host with infinite server bandwith and sign up for 2 years. There are really cheap ones out there.

I feel bad downloading the mp3's now. Why don't you just stream like 96kps songs so people can preview and then post links to 320kps ones on rapid share or zshare or media fire or one of the many file hosting sights.

    you already like to mediafire.....

@ Anon - any examples? I'll admit I've not attempted any huge amount of research into this. Anyway, I still have to pay so I think a voluntary donations button is acceptable. Although given that only one person has ever donated, its probably not worth the hassle.

@ Zac Yes I do have a low-quality stream file and link to Mediafire for downloads. It is the streaming that maxes out my servers. I also have to upload tracks to Yousendit so they list on Hype Machine. So yes, currently on Cassette Culture downloading is on free servers.

what exactly is it you're paying for? For example hostmonster.com offers you unlimited bandwith for to years for the amount of 120 us dollars. and you get your own domian, a tip is to migrate the whole blog from blogspot to wordpress.org, within your new domain. That way you have your own blog and domain and unlimited bandwith. That's what i did.
